Choose a Design

At Choice Quilting we offer hundreds of computer driven designs to suit any quilters preference. When you come to our studio you can browse through our design books and choose an edge to edge (E2E), block or border design that will compliment your quilt creation and fit your budget.

Once you have determined which group of designs fit your budget, it’s time to select a design.  The purpose and use of your quilt will help you decide how to quilt it.  Will it be used every day? Will a child take it everywhere they go including outside?  Or will it hang on the wall or only come out seasonally? The current trend in the magazines and TV shows is to have a very dense (read $$) design with very close stitching and a lot of fill (i.e. cross hatching, small circles, stippling, etc.) covering every inch of the quilt. This will give you a quilt that is very flat with little loft to your batting.  Wider quilting will add softness and warmth with the addition of the loft. Too little quilting will cause cheap (bargain brands) batting to shift when washed several times and make lumps in the spaces between the lines of thread.  See Choose your Batting.

Do you want to show off your piecing?  Choose a large design for E2E quilting or go more custom with different designs in the blocks and the borders.  Keep the thread neutral or matching.

Is your piecing a little off perhaps?  Choose a more dense E2E design that will hide those tiny flaws with contrasting, shiny, multicolored or metallic thread drawing attention to the quilting and less to the piecing.

You can preview Handiquilter Designs on the ProStitcher website. (Left column next to last at the bottom). We also carry many designs from My Creative Stitches by Christy Dillon. Her website is www.mycreativestitches.net/
